The Turkmen president's order on regulating land fees and rent is being prepared in the country, the Turkmen government said Oct. 4.
This issue was discussed at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
After hearing the report, President Berdimuhamedov said that the land is the property of the Turkmen people. It is protected by the state and effectively used, according to the report.
"A regulatory document on the procedure of calculation and collection of land payments and rent, corresponding to the current realities and generally accepted international standards, is required to improve land relations and implement economic incentives for rational land use," the president's statement was quoted.
Together with the ministries and departments, the administrations of Ashgabat and regions analyzed the current state of levying charges and rents for the land plots owned by citizens, used by citizens and legal entities of Turkmenistan, as well as foreign countries and international organizations.
Until now, all these issues were regulated upon the Turkmen president's decree dated May 12, 2006.
According to Article 55 of the Land Code, the land is used in Turkmenistan on a fee basis. The rates, the calculation and payments, as well as a procedure for determining the rent amount and conditions were established by the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers.
Moreover, the government set the benefits on payment of land fees and rent for physical and legal entities.
