Azerbaijan’s non-oil industry increases by 6%

The total volume of industrial production (the volume of production and rendered industrial services) amounted to 25.2 billion AZN in Azerbaijan in January-September 2014 or by 0.6 percent less than in the same period of 2013, according to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee's report.

'Azerbaijan's non-oil sector showed a 6 percent growth, while the oil sector reduced by 2 percent compared to the same period of 2013', according to a report.

The production volume in the mining industry exceeded 18.1 billion AZN with a specific weight of 71.8 percent in the whole industrial production process during the reporting period. This is 1.6 percent less than in January-September 2013.

The oil production volume amounted to 32.15 million metric tons, while natural gas production was 22.6 billion cubic meters in January-September 2014. Oil production dropped 2 percent, while gas production increased by 5.3 percent compared to January-September 2013.

The production volume in the processing industry amounted to 5.6 billion AZN (22 percent of the total production volume) in January-September 2014 which is 1.5 percent less than in January-September 2013.

The growth was stressed in vehicle production - by 3.5 times, tobacco- 85.3 percent, the production of motor vehicles and trailers - 57 percent, jewelry, music, sports and medical equipment - 79.2 percent, repair and installation of machinery and equipment - 77.9 percent, clothing - 50.7 percent, etc.

Production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam hit 5.3 percent of the total production volume and water supply, treatment and recycling of waste - 0.6 percent compared to the same period of 2013.
