The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's investments in Kazakhstan reached a record level and amounted to about $700 million in 2014, Kazinform reported.

It was announced on Feb. 4 during the debate on the EBRD report for 2014 at the Economic Research Institute under Kazakh Ministry of National Economy.

"In 2014, the total volume of the EBRD operation portfolio in Kazakhstan increased by almost 80 percent compared to 2013 year," the EBRD Director for Kazakhstan Janet Heckman said.

The bank invested in 19 projects in various sectors of Kazakhstan economy in 2014.

The EBRD Bank plans to expand its activities in Kazakhstan, Heckman said.

The bank has representative offices in seven regions of the country and plans to open one or two more. The next office will be opened in Karaganda.

In general, the bank is optimistic about the further work in Kazakhstan, and plans to increase the amount of funding and operations in the country, according to Heckman.
