Australia ready for business with Iran

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Australia is ready to resume trade ties with Iran as soon as possible, said deputy secretary of the Australian department of foreign affairs and trade, Ric Wells.

Iran enjoys high economic potentials and Australia is ready to expand trade with Iran as soon as possible, Iran's Tasnim news agency quoted Wells as saying August 5.

He made the remarks in Tehran in a meeting with head of Iran's Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance, Mohammad Khazaei.

The two sides emphasized the need for boosting customs and trade cooperation.

Khazaei expressed hope that the two countries will sign agreements on joint investment and double taxation avoidance in the near future.

The Australian official, for his part, referred to agriculture, mining, and education, as the areas which the two countries can boost cooperation.

Iran exported $175,394,052 of products to Australia in the past Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20, 2015, while it imported $155,605,764 of products from the country.
