Iran's government plans to revive 9,000 small industrial units in the current Iranian year (to end March 20, 2017), said Deputy Minister of Industry Ali Yazdani.

He said the Small Industries Investment Fund will be used as an effective tool to help the closed and half-closed units, Mehr news agency reported Apr. 13.

Educating staff at industrial units is one of the programs on agenda for this year, whereby 100,000 people in small industrial units are planned to be trained.

Some 882,000 people in Iran entered the work market last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2016), the government spokesman Mohammad Bagher Nobakht said April 5.

At the same time, he said, employment in the country's industrial sector dropped by 44,000 people since last year.

Nobakht said Iran plans to create additional 132,000 job opportunities in the current year.
