Representatives of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan, a republic in the Russian Federation, will discuss further expansion of the long-term contacts, read a message from the Turkmen government.

The issue will be discussed in coming days, during the fourth meeting of the joint working group on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The preparations for the meeting were discussed during the government meeting in Turkmenistan.

Addressing the meeting, Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that the bilateral relations, which are developing successfully within the interstate dialogue with Russia, are the bright example of an effective partnership.

“In recent years, special importance has been attached to implementation of the large multifaceted cooperation potential between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan, and this meets the mutual interests,” said the president.

Ashgabat hosts the largest retail and service center in the Central Asia, KamAZ, which is a truck manufacturer based in Tatarstan. The total number of KamAZ cars in Turkmenistan is more than 10,000.

An automobile concern from Tatarstan offers Ashgabat the cars of various models and capacity for transporting various cargoes, as well as the special equipment based on the KamAZ vehicles.

Cooperation in fuel and energy sphere is developing between the two parties. As for instance, Tatarstan’s Tatneft and Turkmenistan’s Turkmenoil signed an agreement in 2008.

The agreement envisages rendering services for increasing oil recovery at reservoirs of the existing well stock and further use of the oil production potential at the Goturdepe field.
