Russia’s economy minister due in Azerbaijan (exclusive)

Russia’s Economic Development Minister Alexey Ulyukaev will visit Azerbaijan to partake in the seventh Azerbaijan-Russia regional forum, to be held Oct. 31-Nov. 1 in Baku, Elena Lashkina, the minister’s aide, told Trend Oct. 17.

Lashkina said the Russian delegation is still being formed, but as expected, the delegation will include officials from the presidential administration, heads of Russia’s regions, officials of executive and legislative authorities, representatives of business community and non-governmental organizations.

During the forum, issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, interregional and border cooperation, cooperation in tourism, agriculture and humanitarian sphere, strategic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan will be discussed, she noted, adding that several bilateral regional documents are planned to be signed.

Trade turnover between Russia and Azerbaijan reached $1.35 billion in January-September 2016, some $251.6 million of which accounted for exports to Russia, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.
