Turkey reveals volume of investments in country’s transport sector

During 2013-2016, a total of $144 billion were invested in Turkey’s transport sector, the country’s Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications told Trend Dec. 18.

During this period, $76 billion were invested in the construction and reconstruction of roads and highways in Turkey, according to the ministry.

“For four years, $22 billion were invested in the railway sector of Turkey, $9 billion in the aviation industry, $2 billion in the shipping industry, and $35 billion in the communications sector,” the ministry said.

Development of Turkey’s transport sector will continue at the same pace.

At present, 50 transport and communication projects are being implemented in Turkey.

Over 139 billion Turkish liras have been invested for implementation of these projects so far.

About 49 percent of the total amount of funds spent in 2017 was allocated to the implementation of railway projects.

It is expected that over 180 billion Turkish liras may be additionally allocated for the implementation of 50 transport and communication projects. Construction of logistics centers is also among the projects to be implemented.
