Baku, Azerbaijan, March 5
By Anvar Mammadov – Trend:
Honey and honey products packaging enterprises will be established in two Azerbaijani districts, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Beekeepers Association Badraddin Hasratov told Trend March 4.
He added that the enterprises will be established within the second project to support beekeeping in Azerbaijan, which will be implemented by the country’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
"FAO experts have already visited Azerbaijan and carried out the necessary calculations and analysis,” he said. “The meetings were held in the country’s Ganja, Astara and Gakh cities. The project is planned to be launched soon. The project will enable to continue to improve the bee gene pool, as well as to begin to improve the packaging. For this purpose, honey packaging enterprises will be established in Ganja and Astara.”
“The new project is planned to be launched in 2018,” Melek Cakmak, head of the FAO Partnership and Liaison Office, told Trend earlier.
She said that the issues related to the packaging and international certification of Azerbaijani honey are planned to be resolved within the project, the initial cost of which is estimated at $800,000.
