Uzbekistan will open a trade house with a show-room of Uzbek national products in Tokyo, by mid-2018.

The agreement on the opening of the trading house was concluded within the framework of the official visit of the Uzbek delegation to Tokyo and its participation in the "New Trends of Economic Reforms in Uzbekistan" investment forum, Uzbek media reported.

The organizations engaged in the projects are Uzbek UzTrade and Japanese Meiko corporations, which plan to expose samples of Uzbek producers in a wide range for further sale in the region.

After completion of the registration stage, the trading house will be provided with the first trial deliveries of fresh and processed fruit and vegetable products, including dried fruits and sweet cherries.

Japan is one of the largest investors in the economy of Uzbekistan. The total amount of financial resources provided to Uzbekistan exceeded $4.1 billion. Bilateral trade indicators continue to remain at a modest level of $300 million per year.

More than 10 representative offices of Japanese companies and 10 joint ventures successfully operate in Uzbekistan, including Isuzu, Itochu, Toyota Tsusho, Marubeni, Mitsubishi, JOGMEC and others.
