State subsidies to agriculture have almost doubled in Azerbaijan in the past eight years, Azerbaijan’s Agriculture Minister Inam Karimov said May 25 at a conference dedicated to the Entrepreneurs’ Day in Azerbaijan.
“The scope of subsidies has also been expanded, the structure of subsidies has been improved, up to the final product,” the minister said. “The amount of some subsidies has increased 3-5 times in recent years.”
The minister added that the agricultural production in Azerbaijan grew 4.1 percent in 2017 compared to the previous year, and a 2.4 percent growth was observed for the first quarter of 2018.
Karimov also noted the importance of establishing cooperation with entrepreneurs.
“Providing transparency in the agriculture sphere, improving the system of supplying seeds, fertilizers and machinery to agriculture producers is one of the highest priorities for us,” the minister said.
