Inflation in Kazakhstan amounted to 3.3 percent since the beginning of the year, Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Daniyar Akishev said at a government meeting, the official website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan said in a statement.

He noted that inflation for the first 9 months of this year remains at the level of the specified corridor.

"Annual inflation in September was 6.1 percent. We expect that this year inflation will remain in the target corridor from 5 to 7 percent without additional measures from the National Bank," Akishev said.

The First Vice-Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Ruslan Dalenov, in turn, said that prices for socially important food products (flour, bread, macaroni, buckwheat, rice, potatoes, carrots, onions, cabbage, sugar, sunflower oil and butter, beef, chicken, milk, eggs, salt, cottage cheese) increased by 0.7 percent in 9 months of this year.

"The analysis of prices in the context of regions shows the excess of thresholds by more than 15 percent in such cities as Astana, Karaganda, Uralsk and Ust-Kamenogorsk for 4 goods, Pavlodar and Shymkent for 3 goods, Aktau, Atyrau, Kostanay, Petropavlovsk, Taraz, Aktobe, Kyzylorda and Taldykorgan for 2 goods and Kokshetau for 1 product," Dalenov noted, adding that there is no significant excess of threshold prices only in Almaty.

He added that the local executive bodies need to intensify the work of the commissions established under the city administrations, as well as strengthen coordination with regional chambers of entrepreneurs to prevent further price increases.
