EU to finance projects worth 25M euros in Uzbekistan's livestock, public services sectors

The European Union will finance two projects on the development of the livestock sector and improving the quality of public services rendered by the justice authorities in the regions of Uzbekistan, totaling 25 million euros, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.

The corresponding agreements were signed during the visit of the Uzbek delegation headed by Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov to Brussels on Nov. 21.

The Uzbek Foreign Minister also held talks with European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica. The sides discussed practical aspects of the further development of multi-dimensional cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU, including in the “Central Asia - EU” format.

The sides stated the dynamic and productive nature of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.

In particular, the counterparts noted positive trends in education and training, and discussed in this context prospects for increasing the network of branches of leading European universities in Uzbekistan in such qualifications as “Private Law” and “Medicine”.
