Reconstruction of the runway of Kazakhstan’s Kostanay airport will allow to expand the flight directions, Trend reports via the Kazakh media.
The cost of reconstruction of the airport runway is 4.6 billion tenge.
"The project envisages an increase of the length of the runway by 300 meters. After reconstruction, our airport will be able to increase the flight directions," said Bakytbek Yessengulov, the head of the Passenger Transportation and Automobile Roads Department of the Kostanay region’s administration.
For instance, negotiations are underway with Air Astana on Kostanay-Hanover flights not only in summer but also in winter.
"This is a very popular destination among the residents of the region," said Yessengulov. "In addition, negotiations are underway with SCAT Airlines for the opening of the Shymkent-Kostanay-Yekaterinburg route."
Also, flights to Aktobe and Atyrau are possible in the future. Thus, Kostanay will have air connection not only with Astana and Almaty, but also with other popular destinations.
