Place & time of opening first SME house in Azerbaijan revealed

Azerbaijan’s Agency for Development of SMEs plans to open a SME house in Baku, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Agency for Development of SMEs Natig Hasanov told Trend Feb. 28.

He said that the opening of the facility is scheduled before the end of this year.

“In accordance with our estimates, this will significantly enhance the effectiveness of the mechanism for supporting SMEs in Azerbaijan,” he noted. “Of course, we will expand the network of this mechanism, and in the future we plan to open such houses in other cities of the country, particularly in Ganja, in Sumgait cities, etc. This is already included in the plans for the subsequent years.”

He added that the agency plans to create an electronic platform to improve the process of providing information support to entrepreneurs online.

The Agency for the Development of SMEs of Azerbaijan was established on the basis of the decree on improvement of management in the field of SMEs signed by President Ilham Aliyev in December 2017.

The task of the agency is to ensure the consistency of reforms, as well as the improvement of the business regulation system and the application of effective coordination, enhancing the role and competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses in the country’s economy, and the compliance of the management system of this sphere with modern requirements.

As a single structure with special powers, through the Houses of SMEs, the agency will organize, coordinate, evaluate and regulate the services rendered by state agencies and organizations in this area.
