Uzbekistan's foreign trade increases by almost 30%

The external trade turnover of Uzbekistan in January-June 2019 amounted to $19.68 billion, having increased by $4.52 billion, or by 29.8 percent compared to the corresponding period last year, Trend reports with reference to State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Of this amount, exports reached $8.43 billion (a growth rate of 27 percent), and imports - $11.24 billion (a growth rate of 32 percent). The foreign trade balance was minus $2.8 billion.

In January-June 2019, Uzbekistan led trade relations with more than 166 countries of the world.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of enterprises engaged in the export of goods increased by 831 units, and their total number reached 3,885 units.

In 2Q2019, the volume of foreign trade turnover amounted to $10.27 billion and increased by 9.2 percent compared to the first quarter of this year. The share of imports in foreign trade turnover increased from 56.1 percent to 57.1 percent compared to first quarter, while the share of exports decreased from 43.9 percent to 42.9 percent.

The share of mutual trade with the CIS member states in Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover in January-June 2019 reached 34.8 percent ($6.84 billion), the growth rate of foreign trade turnover was 18.1 percent compared with the previous year.

The share of other countries in foreign trade turnover in January-June 2019 reached 65.2 percent ($12.84 billion), with the 37-percent growth rate compared to the same period last year.
