The Agency for the Development of Public-Private Partnership of Uzbekistan, together with ministries and departments, is working to attract foreign direct investment in 17 public-private partnership (PPP) projects totaling $10 billion, Trend reports citing Sputnik Uzbekistan.

"Uzbekistan offers projects to foreign investors on the terms of public-private partnership in various sectors, and all projects have a social focus," Director of the Agency Golib Kholzhigitov said.

The Tashkent administration and Head of the Asian Development Bank in Uzbekistan Cindy Malvicini signed an agreement to provide advice on the transfer of the Uzbek capital's heating networks to management under PPP terms and conditions for long-term leases.

The goal of the project is to attract experienced foreign companies to the housing and utilities sector for the modernization and reconstruction of heating networks.

At present, in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank, a project is being launched in Samarkand, Bukhara, Namangan and Karshi to manage water supply and sewage systems within the public-private partnership.
