Germany to introduce its technologies in Uzbek agriculture

Representatives of business circles of the Federal Lands of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany expressed their readiness to introduce German technologies for growing grapes for wine in Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.

On August 13, a meeting was organized at the Ministry of Agriculture with the participation of representatives of the business community of the Federal Lands of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Representatives of German business circles noted that 80 percent of grapes grown for wine today are planted on the basis of high technology with the help of a special combine and expressed their readiness to introduce German technologies in Uzbekistan.

The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in order to grow German grape varieties in Uzbekistan, introduce new technologies and, in particular, plant grape varieties and harvest them on a combine, as well as widely introduce modern irrigation technologies, i.e. drip irrigation systems to obtain high productivity.

According to the state register of crops, there are 45 grape varieties in the regions of Uzbekistan.

In 2019-2021, new vineyards are planned to be created on 23,400 hectares of land. An address program has been developed to create new vineyards on 8,290 hectares of land in 2019, 8,840 in 2020 and 6,270 in 2021.
