The Uzbek state will benefit from the introduction of the Russian digital marking system due to increased transparency, fiscal effect and a new easier way of administration, a representative of the Center for Advanced Technology Development of Russia told Trend in an interview.

Recently, Trend reported that the center will help Uzbekistan in introducing a unified system for marking goods.

The Government of Uzbekistan has approved the phased introduction of a product labeling system.

“The implementation of the system will begin with a pilot project, which starts in September 2019. Cigarettes, strong alcohol and beer will fall under the marking. CRPT TURON (part of the Center) was selected as the operator of the pilot project,” the official told Trend.

According to the representative, the information system will be implemented in accordance with the memorandum signed by the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan and the Center for Advanced Technologies Development. Products will be marked with special Data Matrix codes.

“Five major manufacturers already announced their participation in the project,” the representative said.

He added that the legal business of Uzbekistan will receive its benefits due to an increase in market share and sales growth thanks to the departure of illegal players and equalization of competition.

“An important goal of digital marking and traceability in any country is to protect consumers from counterfeit, smuggled and counterfeit products, i.e. any kind of illegal traffic. Buyers will be able to independently verify the authenticity of the goods using a mobile application, which has already been implemented in Russia,” the official noted.

The representative stated that the system will allow more accurate planning of production and optimize inventory, improve logistics and marketing. This will allow enterprises to switch to the format of Industry 4.0.

The Center for Advanced Technologies Development was created to implement global projects in the digital economy. It has the necessary expert and technological infrastructure.

On the basis of public-private partnership, the Center has created a Unified National System for Digital Marking and Tracking of Goods in Russia. The system, called the Honest Badge, will make the country's product market transparent and create a complete system to guarantee the authenticity and quality of goods.

“Our Center has already gained extensive experience in introducing labeling in Russia, and joint work is ongoing with labeling operators in Kazakhstan and Belarus,” the representative stressed.

The official added that the system had already proved its effectiveness as a tool to protect consumers and increase market transparency.
