Russia is the main buyer of Azerbaijan's agricultural and processed products, Shahin Mustafayev, Azerbaijani economy minister, co-chair of the Intergovernmental State Commission for Economic Cooperation Affairs between Azerbaijan and Russia, said in an interview with the official Azerbaijani media outlets, Trend reports.

"Last year, more than 560,000 tons of products were exported to the neighboring country. Moreover, Russian companies export agricultural machinery to Azerbaijan. In recent years, about 900 units of agricultural machinery for various purposes and over 650,000 tons of mineral fertilizers have been purchased from Russia," the minister said.

"By the way, within the framework of the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission, which will take place before the end of 2019, it is planned to sign a program of cooperation in the agro-industrial complex for 2020-2022 between Azerbaijan and Russia."

"Another area of cooperation is tourism, and in recent years our relations in this area have been expanding. Russia is leading in the number of tourists coming to Azerbaijan. Last year, the number of incoming Russian tourists amounted to 880,000 people in Azerbaijan. Growth continues this year. So, the number of Russian tourists increased by 2.5 percent in the first half of 2019," Mustafayev said.

"I would also like to note that every week, there are more than 100 direct flights from Azerbaijan to various cities of Russia. Since 2018, a representative office of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau has been operating in Moscow. It is planned to sign a cooperation program between the two countries for the next three years to further expand cooperation in the tourism sector. As a result of this work, an increase in the number of tourists between Azerbaijan and Russia is expected," the minister added.
