Retail trade value exceeds $20B in Kazakhstan

The value of the retail trade in Kazakhstan has amounted to 8.054 trillion tenge (approximately $20.687 billion) during first nine months of 2019, which is 5.5 percent more compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to the Committee of Statistics of Kazakhstan.

According to the data, the largest percentage in the total retail trade turnover accounts for individual entrepreneurs (42.6 percent in September compared to 42.9 percent in August). It is followed by small businesses (30 percent compared to 29.6 percent previous month) and large businesses (19 percent compared to 19.1 percent previous month). The least amount of the retail trade turnover accounts for medium businesses (8.4 percent, the indicator did not change).

Furthermore, the largest share of the retail trade accounts for Almaty. Some 31.2 percent (31.5 percent previous month) of the total trade turnover accounts for this city and the value of trade turnover here has also increased by 11.1 percent during the reporting period compared to the same period of 2018.

The major part of the retail trade turnover accounts for Nur-Sultan city (12 percent compared to 12.3 percent previous month), Karaganda region (9 percent compared to 8.8 percent previous month) and East Kazakhstan region (8.8 percent compared to 9 percent previous month).
