Turkmenistan Airlines, Turkmenistan’s national air-carrier, plans to launch flights to Kuala Lumpur and Jeddah in February net year, Trend reports referring to Turkmen media.

The flights to these destinations were earlier expected to be launched in December this year.

This issue was discussed during a government meeting. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that from a geographical and economic point of view, the country’s air harbors have an exceptionally advantageous location for transit flights, as well as for technical landings and the related aircraft maintenance, the Watan newspaper reported.

It was earlier reported that the flight to Malaysia will be operated three times a week, while to Saudi Arabia - two times. The further development of air transportation is associated with the acquisition of an ultramodern airliner Boeing 777-200 LR.

The main stream of pilgrims travelling for committing hajj to Mecca and Medina accounts for the Jeddah seaport. For this purpose, the routes which will allow tourists from Europe, Turkey, the CIS countries, Thailand and Vietnam to fly to the Arabian peninsula through Ashgabat airport, are being developed.

These flights can be connected with the flights to Ashgabat from Germany, France, England, Russia and Turkey, thus creating additional convenience for transit travelers.
