By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran increased the export to Iraq for first six months of this Iranian year (from March 21 through September 22), despite all the problems, Chairman of the Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce Yahya Al-e Eshaq said.

“Iran exported the products worth $4.6 billion to Iraq,” Al-e Eshaq noted, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

The chairman added that last Iranian year (March 21, 2018 - March 21, 2019), the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $13 billion. “This figure is planned to be increased up to $20 billion in the long-term prospect,” Al-e Eshaq said.

“The current situation in Iran has not affected the country’s trade with Iraq, but in the future, it may negatively affect the export of the Iranian goods to Iraq,” the chairman added.

Al-e Eshaq emphasized that one of the important conditions required for the development of cooperation with Iraq is the export of quality products.

“Some businessmen export products of the second and third categories to Iraq, so Iraqi consumers think that Iranian products are not of high quality,” the chairman said.

Al-e Eshaq added that from March 21 through September 22, Iran exported products worth $477 million to the EU countries, which is 75 percent less than in the same period of last year.
