Turkmenistan has become one of the largest suppliers of polymer products to Russia, Trend reports referring to Turkmengas State Concern, which in turn cites data from the Russian Federal Customs Service.
Plastic products rank first in the list of goods imported from Turkmenistan. The total cost of polymers supplied to the Russian Federation is over $47.6 million.
In the first nine months of 2019, the amount of Turkmenistan's exports of oil products to Russia reached $6.7 million, which is 6.8 times higher compared to the same period last year. During the reported period, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Russia grew by 80 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.
Russian entrepreneurs mainly purchase high-density polyethylene for the production of pipes used for transporting water and gas through the Turkmen State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange.
Moreover, demand for polypropylene is still high. Turkmenistan is leading in supplying this type of polymer to the Russian market and ahead of such countries as Germany, South Korea, Finland, Belgium, Kazakhstan, Austria, Uzbekistan, Italy, the Netherlands and China.
Not only the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries, but also the polymer plant in Kiyanly settlement successfully compete with the world's leading polypropylene producers, the report said.
