Iranian carmaker Iran Khodro produced 2,300 cars on December 21, Executive Director of the company Farshad Moqimi, said, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.
“The company produced 40,400 cars from November 22 through December 21,” Moqimi added. “Such a volume of cars was not produced in the past 15 months.”
The executive director added that 23 kinds of car parts imported by the company previously are currently produced in Iran.
"Moreover, 12 kinds of spare parts are being tested and if the tests prove to be successful, they will be produced en masse," Moqimi said.
The executive director added that the efforts are being made to reduce the cost of cars through the production of car parts in the country, as well as via increase of the car production.
"If the car production increases from 400,000 to 600,000 a year, this will lead to a decrease in car prices," Moqimi said.
The prices for cars produced in Iran are shown in the table below. The official exchange rate of the US dollar is $1 - 42,000 rials.
