Storage of necessary goods in Iran - in good condition, says minister

TEHRAN, Iran, Jan.3

Trend:

Storage of necessary goods at warehouses in Iran is in good condition, said the country's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani, Trend reports via ILNA.

Rahmani said that he visited Shahid Aminzadeh - one of the biggest storage houses, located in Baharestan County in Tehran Province.

"The government's duty is to make sure there is enough of goods, and there's plenty. Production of 2/3 of goods has increased, and also necessary measures have been taken to support needed imports," he said.

Rahmani also called on organizations to support domestic production.

Following the re-impose of US sanction against Iran and devaluation of national currency the price of necessary goods have increased that initially hiked by rise of import prices and smuggling.

Iran's government has tried to tackle the problem through subsidies and price regulation.

The government banned imports of more than 1,300 products while the Central Bank of Iran has offered U.S. dollars to importers at a subsidized rate for essential goods such as pharmaceuticals, meat and wheat.
