SMEs share decreases in Kazakhstan's retail trade

The value of the retail trade in Kazakhstan has amounted to 11.3 trillion tenge (approximately $29.8 billion) during 2019, which is 5.8 percent more compared to 2018, Trend reports with reference to the Committee of Statistics of Kazakhstan.

According to the data, the largest percentage in the total retail trade turnover accounts for individual entrepreneurs (41.9 percent in November compared to 41.5 percent in November 2019).

It is followed by small businesses (30.5 percent compared to 30.5 percent previous month) and large businesses (19.3 percent compared to 19.4 percent previous month). The least amount of the retail trade turnover accounts for medium businesses (8.3 percent compared to 8.6 percent).

The largest share of the retail trade accounts for Almaty city. Some 31.3 percent (31.2 percent previous month) of the total trade turnover accounts for this city and the value of trade turnover here has also increased by 12.1 percent during the reporting period compared to 2018.

The major part of the retail trade turnover accounts for Nur-Sultan city (11.6 percent compared to 11.5 percent previous month), Karaganda region (8.8 percent compared to 8.8 percent previous month) and East Kazakhstan region (8.7 percent compared to 8.7 percent previous month).
