Georgia adds new export destinations for tangerine

Georgia recorded exceptionally high quality of the tangerine harvest in 2019, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

As reported, 31,000 tons of tangerine out of 50,000 tons has already been exported from Georgia from September 2019 through January 2020.

Georgia exported five percent more tangerines in 2019, as compared to 2018.

Mostly, tangerines were exported to Russia – 20 tons, Ukraine – 5.2 tons, Belarus – 319 tons, Kazakhstan – 140 tons and Kyrgyzstan – 58 tons.

Georgia has added Slovenia, Moldova, Lithuania, Poland, Qatar, Singapore as new export destinations for tangerine in 2020.

This year the wholesale price of tangerines varied from 0.6 lari (20 cents) to 2 lari (69 cents).

The Ministry of Agriculture says that the high quality of the tangerines was driven by the list of measures implemented by the state against stink bug.
