Georgia ratified a free trade agreement with Great Britain, which was drawn up in October 2019, said Georgian Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze, Trend reports citing the Georgian media.

“Before Brexit, we were negotiating with the UK. We signed and ratified the agreement. Now we expect the same from the British side. We think that ratification will take place in a month. It is important for us to complete this process in a timely manner,” said Arveladze.

A free trade agreement with Great Britain was signed in October 2019 during a working visit of Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani to London.

The free trade deal is part of the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Georgia and the United Kingdom.

According to the National Statistics Service of Georgia (Geostat), in 2019, Georgia exported goods worth over $35 million to the UK. Imports from the UK to Georgia in 2019 totaled to about $110 million.
