Georgian Berry Company has begun production of brandy from organic raspberries and blackberries, Trend reports citing EastFruit analytical portal.
As reported, brandy made from organic raspberries and blackberries will appear on the Georgian market at the end of February, 2020.
Georgian Berry LLC owns plantations of raspberries and blackberries on seven hectares in the Marneuli region (Eastern Georgia). The company also has a refrigerator, which allows storing 10-15 tons of berries and fruits at a temperature of 0-10 degrees.
In 2019, the company received a BIO certificate for berries from a Biocert company accredited byInternational Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM).
At the first stage, raspberry and blackberry brandy under the Georgian Berry brand will be presented in stores. Then, raspberry and blackberry brandy will be offered to hotel chains and other objects of the tourism industry.
“We will produce brandy in limited quantities, and it will be designed primarily for tourists of the VIP segment,” said company representative Thea Kutateladze.
The company's plans for this year include cooperation with Georgian Agro House, which is engaged in the supply of Georgian fruits and vegetables to the local and export markets.
Georgian Berry plans to export berries directly, but a serious obstacle to the development of this direction, according to the company’s representative, is the lack of a developed logistics infrastructure in Georgia.
