Subsistence minimum increases in Georgia

Subsistence minimum has increased in Georgia in February 2020 compared to January 2020, Trend reports with reference to National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to the latest data, if in January 2020, subsistence minimum for working-age men reached 197 lari ($67.02), in February 2020 it amounted to 199 lari ($67.70).

In February 2020 data, subsistence minimum distributed by type of household.

Meanwhile, for single-member household it reached 176.2 lari ($59.95), for two-member household – 282 lari ($95.94), for three-member household – 317.2 lari ($107.92), for four-member household – 352.5 lari ($119.92), for five-member household – 396.5 lari ($134.89), for six and more member household – 468.8 lari ($159.49).

The National Statistics Office of Georgia calculates the subsistence minimum based on the minimum consumer basket according to the norms of determining the composition of minimum food basket for subsistence minimum regarding food substance and energy for physiology demand.

Geostat has been calculating the subsistence minimum since 2004.
