Azerbaijan’s hazelnut processing factory reveals plans for 2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 21

Hazelnut processing factory operating in Azerbaijan’s Zagatala district plans to increase the export of hazelnut products abroad this year, a source at the enterprise told Trend.

The source said that the primary target is the Russian market.

“Russian market accounts for 80 percent of the factory’s total export. The short-term plans are to increase its export potential and to this end, we are actively boosting the production,” said the source.

The source went on to add that the volume of hazelnut production exceeded 1,200 tons in 2019.

“It is planned to increase the production to 1,350 tons and so this year. The factory exports kernels of peeled hazelnuts, including roasted and chopped hazelnuts, and also sells them in small volumes on the domestic market. At the same time, hazelnut flour is also sold on the local market,” said the source.

Currently, the enterprise is seeking new export markets and is in talks with potential clients in CIS countries.

The factory’s products have a Certificate of Conformity issued by the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan. There is also a confirmation code No.AZE 6231 120 for exporting products to European Union countries.

The factory operates with equipment manufactured in Turkey.
