Iran announces products exported via Astara customs checkpoint

More than 120,000 tons of products were exported via railway of Astara region of the Gilan province in northern Iran, during the past year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), said Director General of Astara Customs Administration Rasul Umidi, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to Umidi, these products were transported by 2,150 wagons.

Umidi added that the value of products exported by railway was more than $36.7 million.

"Exported products were mainly household goods, ceramics, cement, fruit and construction materials," he said.

The official said that about 227,000 tons of products worth $70 million were imported by the Astara railways last year.

Iran's Astara railway terminal has been operating since late June 2018.
