Uzbekistan seeks cooperation with Latvian largest fruits, vegetables importer

Uzbekistan seeks to export its fruit and vegetable products to the European market, Trend reports citing Dunyo News Agency.

To this end, Embassy of Uzbekistan in Latvia held negotiations with owner of ELBI company Sergey Kulikov.

The company is one of the largest Latvian suppliers of fruits and vegetables to the European market. It carries out expeditions to shops and supermarkets in Riga as well as in regions of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

It has warehouses with the total area of 4,500 square meters, equipped with modern ventilation and refrigeration chambers and loading and unloading equipment.

Following the visit of the embassy representatives to the company's storage facility, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in increasing exports of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products to Latvia and other EU countries. The sides also touched upon the introduction of EU quality standards in Uzbekistan to achieve this goal, as well as cargo transportation issues, the message said.

Sergey Kulikov noted the great potential of fruit and vegetable products' export from Uzbekistan and expressed interest in expanding ties with Uzbek suppliers.

The sides reached an agreement to take steps to increase the volume of Uzbek exports to Latvia.
