Uzbek agro-based cluster expands textile production in Bukhara region

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19

Cotton-textile agrocluster Buxoro Zarhal Teks Ltd. plans to establish textile enterprise on 100 hectares of unused land in Bukhara region, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan National News Agency.

This agricultural project planned to be implemented in 2020-2022.

Special equipment will be used and a drip irrigation system will be implemented. It is planned to bring equipment for 3.6 billion soum ($354,207) from abroad within two months.

It is planned to bring 600 tons of carbamide from Turkmenistan and the same amount of ammophos from Russia to grow cotton, the report said.

The enterprise is setting up production of knitted products, and almost 100 people will be provided with jobs.

Buxoro Zarhal Teks Ltd., which was set up in 2017, specializes in deep processing of raw cotton. This year's exports have already reached $664,600. Moreover, it is planned to supply $1.5 million worth of products abroad by the end of the year.

In the agrocluster cotton will be processed into yarn, from which cluster will sew modern clothes. It is planned to export this textile production to Russia, Poland and Azerbaijan.
