Georgian wine export to China declines

The volume of exports from Georgia to China in monetary terms increased by 207.9 percent from January through April 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, and amounted to $135.54 million, Trend reports citing Georgian National Statistics Service (Geostat).

As reported, in January-April 2020, the export of natural grape wines from Georgia to China decreased by 34.9 percent compared to the same period last year. In the first four months of 2020, 834,114 liters of wine worth $3.38 million were exported from Georgia to China.

In January-April 2019, Georgia exported 1,556 liters of wine in the amount of $5.20 million to China.

During the reporting period, the export of spices from Georgia to China increased by 71.7 percent compared to the same period in 2019. Beer exports also increased significantly.

Exports of the copper ores and concentrates commodity group from Georgia to China grew by 266.4 percent.

Meanwhile, in the first four months of 2020, the volume of imports from China to Georgia decreased by 23 percent compared with the same period last year.
