Azerbaijan’s Lankaran cannery talks about plans for 2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2

By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:

The Lankaran cannery, one of the biggest producers of a wide range of canned products in Azerbaijan, located in Lankaran district, is increasing the sales and supply volumes of fruit juices and compotes, a source in the Lankaran cannery told Trend.

“The cannery is increasing the export potential of its main product, namely, Bagdan compotes, which are in the greatest demand in the domestic market and outside the country,” the source said.

“The cannery plans to export 20,000-25,000 bottles of compotes to Russia in the coming days,” the source said. “Some 200,000 bottles of compotes were exported to Russia in the first quarter of 2020, and about 100,000 bottles of compotes were exported to Russia in April 2020.”

“The retail price of compotes within the country varies between 1.40 -1.80 manat (82 cents-$1.05),” the source said. “The prices of the exported products are also quite low as foreign customers fully cover all transport and customs costs.”

“The cannery’s products are mainly sold on the domestic market,” the source said. “Some 30-35 percent of the total production volume accounted for the export.”

The products produced by the Lankaran cannery have a certificate of conformity issued by the Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents.

The production capacity of the cannery allows producing about 6-7 million bottles of compotes, and in general up to 10 million bottles of all types of products.

The Italian-made equipment has been installed at the cannery.
