Iran's Ardabil Airport’s runway being restored

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13

The operation to restore the runway at the airport of the same name in Ardabil Province (northwestern Iran) will be completed by the end of September, said Fakhraddin Hashemi, Director General of the Ardabil Province Airports Department, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to Hashemi, the main runway of Ardabil airport has been under repair since 2018, and in fact this runway is being rebuilt.

Hashemi added that the commissioning of this runway will allow large aircraft such as Boeing 777 to land.

The official said that the strip is 3,300 meters long and 45 meters wide, and work on the strip is about 60 percent complete.

"So far, about 500 billion rials (about $11.9 million) have been spent on the construction of this strip, and another 500 billion rials are needed to complete it.
