Uzbekistan significantly increased exports of apricots from January through May 2020, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
During the reporting period, Uzbekistan increased exports of apricots in terms of weight by 12.6 percent compared to the same period of 2019, to 11,200 tons. The total value of apricots exports was $10.9 million.
The largest volumes of apricots were exported to Kazakhstan and Russia, with 6,000 tons worth $4.9 million and 3,600 tons worth $3.5 million, respectively. At the same time, shipments of the fruit to Kazakhstan decreased by 4.5 percent in terms of weight, and to Russia - increased by 51.3 percent.
The largest growth was recorded in the exports of apricots to the UAE - 5.8 times (4.1 tons worth $10,000), and Ukraine - by four times (253.6 tons worth $194,500). In total, the fruit was exported to nine countries during the reporting period.
From January through April 2020, supplies of Uzbek fruits and vegetables to the Russian market increased by 42 percent compared to the same period in 2019 and reached $25.6 million, said the committee.
