Volume of loaded, unloaded cargo in Iran's ports plunges

The volume of loaded and unloaded cargo in Iranian ports amounted to 26.84 million tons from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to June 17, Trend reports citing Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) of Iran.

The volume of loaded and unloaded cargo at Iranian ports has decreased by 30.5 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year. During the same period of last Iranian year, 38.64 million tons were loaded and unloaded, said the report.

The cargoes were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Jask, Chabahar, Khorramshahr, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Fereydunkenar, Qeshm, Ganaveh, Lengeh, Neka and Bushehr.

During the reporting period, 8.87 million tons of oil were loaded and unloaded. This is a decrease of 18.6 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (10.9 million tons).

The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 0.33 million tons during the reporting period. This is a decrease by 32.6 percent compared to the same period of last Iranian year (over 0.49 million tons).

The volume of other container shipments was 3.54 million tons, which is 41.9 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (6.1 million tons).

The general cargo volume stood at 3.2 million tons showing 34.3-percent decrease compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (4.87 million tons).

Dry bulk cargo volume reached 10.48 million tons. This is a decrease of 33.1 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (over 15.66 million tons).

Liquid bulk cargo was 0.76 million tons. This is 31.7 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (1.11 million tons).
