About 94 percent of the value of the purchased wheat from farmers in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (southeastern Iran) from April 4 to June 16 was paid, Director General of the Government Trading Corporation of Iran’s branch in Sistan and Baluchestan Province Gholamali Ganjali said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s official website.
Ganjali stressed that so far, more than 24,400 tons of wheat has been purchased from the farmers in the province.
The director general added that so far, more than 791 tons of rapeseed worth 36.8 billion rials (about $877,000) have been purchased from the farmers in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.
A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products, are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
