The volume of loaded and unloaded cargo at Khorramshahr port of Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) increased by 19 percent during the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through June 20, 2020), compared to the same period of the last Iranian year, Head of Khorramshahr Ports and Maritime Organization Nurullah Asadi said, Trend reports referring to the organization's web site.

According to Asadi, during three months, 724,900 tons of cargo was loaded and unloaded at the port.

The head of organization added that at present, operations continue on 20 port platforms.

The volume of the cargo handled in the port has increased following the expansion of its infrastructure, growth of supples and the provision of various benefits to product owners, said the official.

The Khorramshahr port covers an area of ​​230 hectares. It is located in the territory of Arvand free trade zone close to Abadan Oil Refining Company’s plant and the Khouzestan Steel Company’s plant. The port is also connected to the Iranian railway network.
