Efficiency of Kazakhstan's mining to be increased thanks to digitalization

Efficiency of mining in Kazakhstan to be increased by 22.7 percent by the end of 2020, compared to the level as of the end of 2016, a representative of Kazakhstan’s Zerde National ICT Holding told Trend.

Zerde National ICT Holding is dealing with implementation of a 'Digital Kazakhstan' State Program in the country. The main goal of the program - improvement of Kazakhstan's economy competitiveness and quality of life through the progressive development of the digital ecosystem.

Thus, within the achievement of 12 indicators and 27 indexes is planned within the framework of the project.

The representative said that this year Kazakhstan’s economy digitalization is expected to increase labor productivity of mining by 22.7 percent, transport and storage by 10.7 percent, agriculture 44.8 percent and manufacturing by 30.3 percent.

The share of electronic commerce is also to be increased to 2 percent in total retail trade this year, whereas the share of state services received in electronic form is to be up to 50 percent of the total volume of state services. Furthermore, the share of internet users should increase to 81.8 percent, the volume of investments attracted in startups should go up to 15.2 billion tenge ($37.6 million).

The company's representative also noted that within the framework of the coverage with communication networks and ICT infrastructure expansion there is a goal set for broadband internet networks provision to the homes.

“This indicator is to be 84.2 percent in 2020. In terms of digitalizing the internal activities of state bodies, measures to improve of the country’s position in in the e-government development index (UN ranking), bring it up to 28th place are planned,” said the rep.

Talking "venture" financing, the representative pointed out that this year Kazakhstan is to take 90-th place in the ‘Venture capital availability’ rating of the World Economic Forum.
