Iran to continue economic activities by following health protocols - Rouhani

TEHRAN, Iran, July 11

Trend:

Iran continues its economic activities and it is not possible to close businesses in the long term, said Iranian President.

"Businesses and economic activities should continue by strictly following health protocols to prevent coronavirus spread and there is no other way," said Hassan Rouhani, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Closing businesses for a long term is not possible, while everyone should follow the health procedures to fight coronavirus," he added. "It is wrong to stop social, economic activities and not to provide urgent services; however, the current situation is not ordinary."

Large gatherings should be banned except specific cases; it is not the time for festivals or other public events, the head of state said adding that if the Health Ministry considers the university entrance exams undesirable, the issue will be addressed.

"Our scientists are working to produce medicines and a vaccine to treat coronavirus; in the meantime, people must observe the social distancing and wear masks," the president noted. "Instructions of the National Headquarters to Fight Coronavirus for employees in public offices should be implemented and monitored. It is mandatory to wear masks in public places, and individuals without masks shall not be served."

"All the organizations have the duty to monitor following health protocols, and their implementation in subways, buses and taxies should be controlled," he said.
