BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 3
By Fidan Babayeva – Trend:
Due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the production of sand, gravel and stone in Azerbaijan in 2020 is lower than in previous years, Chairman of the Association of Sand, Gravel and Stone Producers of Azerbaijan Niyamaddin Iskandarov told Тrend.
The activity of the newly created Association is oriented primarily for attracting new members to the Association, that is, legal entities and individuals working in this area, the chairman said.
In order to join the association, companies need to contact the Small and Medium Business Development Agency to familiarize themselves with the rules and conditions related to membership.
“We also plan to cooperate with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, local executive bodies and municipalities that are related to each other in this area,” Iskandarov said.
The vast majority of manufacturers operating in the country are in the private sector, the chairman stressed.
The Association of Sand, Gravel and Stone Producers of Azerbaijan was established on February 14, 2020, by the initiative and with the support of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency under the Ministry of Economy.
The new association was created to support the development of the jewelry industry, promote and implement initiatives in this sector, coordinate entrepreneurs, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and expand cooperation between them.
The Small and Medium Business Development Agency closely cooperates with business associations, promotes the creation of new similar structures among entrepreneurs.
Most of the 15 organizations represented on the Agency's Public Council are industry associations operating in various sectors of the economy.
