Uzbekistan's Jizzax Organic company will bring 5,000 livestock animals from Russia and the US to Uzbekistan in October 2020, Trend reports citing the company.
Import of heifers of Angus and Hereford breeds will launch industrial production of marbled beef in Uzbekistan. The Jizzax Organic will be the first company in Uzbekistan to produce full cycle marbled beef. Currently the local market demand is satisfied by import of this type of meat.
The total investment in this project is $55 million. Of this amount, $18 million will be used to purchase the herd mother. The company plans to start producing marble beef in 2022.
By October 2020, Jizzax Organic will complete the construction of a fattening ground (feedlot) for steers and two winter camps for heifers.
“The project was designed by Thompson Longhorn, an Australian company. Feedlot is designed for 20,000 heads,” the message said.
Jizzax Organic, established in accordance with the instruction of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is engaged in the production of meat and dairy products, crop farming and livestock breeding. The total amount of investment in the company stands at $150 million.
