Trend:

Iran 's Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade is to finance production of 500 buses for public transportation fleet by the end of current Iranian year (started March 20,2020), said the acting minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Jafar Sargheini, Trend reports via Mehr News Agency.

"Municipalities should inform the ministry about the number of buses needed for next Iranian year (started March 21,2021)," said Jafar Sargheini.

"The plan to renovate country's transportation fleet will be implemented by cooperation of domestic producers and the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade," he added.

"Domestic automaker companies have the capacity to provide 500 buses to city transportation fleet by the remaining months of current Iranian year (started March 20,2020)," he said.

"It is expected that domestic factories have the capacity to produce 5,000 buses per year. Formation of a committee in the Plan and Budget Organization would follow the implementation of the plan," he said.

Following the re-impose of the US sanctions, many foreign suppliers of auto parts and vehicles have suspended collaboration with Iranian companies.

Iran is not able to import new buses in large numbers.
