A seminar on "Digitalization of agriculture" was held on October 19 at the Digital city technology park in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan at the initiative of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications and with the participation of teachers and students of the Andijan Institute of Agriculture and Agrotechnology.
The main topic of the seminar was the issues of increasing the productivity of agricultural land by introducing modern information and communication technologies, organizing a system to reduce the cost of production, and increase the export potential of agricultural enterprises.
At the seminar, the tasks identified following the Decree of the President of Uzbekistan "On approval of the strategy Digital Uzbekistan - 2030" and measures for its effective implementation were considered.
Starting from 2020, it is planned to widely introduce market mechanisms in agriculture, its full digitalization, to increase the interest of farmers, the abolition of state orders for cotton and grain, and the implementation of purchases based on market principles.
Private business is also actively involved in the implementation of digital technologies in agriculture. In particular, the residents of the Digital City Technology park developed a project for the implementation of the Monterra platform aimed at the phased digitalization of arable land using satellite technologies. The implementation of this project will increase the export opportunities for farms.
Currently, this platform has been integrated with the Land Information System of the Cadastral Agency under the State Tax Committee. The work on the formation of analytical data on the 145,000 hectares of cotton and grain areas owned by 7,879 farms has been launched, which is 64.74 percent of all sown land in the Andijan region.
