Transit between Iranian ports and landlocked countries increases

Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, the Head of Port and Maritime Organization Mohammad Rastad said that establishing rail access fro İran to landlocked countries can significantly help the development of transits, Trend reports citing the Official Website of PMO.

"Afghanistan is one of the landlocked countries with significant opportunities for import, export and transit of goods with Iran,”Rastad said.

"The rail connection of Chabahar port to Afghanistan can play an effective role in developing transit, improving the quality of exchanged goods, increasing competitiveness, reducing costs and consequently increase productivity,” he said.

Referring to the importance of the Khaf-Harat railway project in increasing the capacity of the southern ports of Iran, he said that the completion of the Khaf-Harat railway, will lead to a serious change in the transit of goods to Afghanistan through the port of Chabahar.
