The collegium of the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan (MIDU) made a decision to finance 20 scientific and technical projects under a cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, Trend reports citing MIDU.
According to the ministry, a total of 61 projects were submitted for the competition. Six projects were excluded from the competition due to the failure to submit projects from partner organizations from the Chinese side. Some 55 scientific and technical projects were considered by the Scientific and Technical Councils under the Ministry of Innovative Development.
It was noted that two experts were appointed for each project during the examination. At the meeting of the Scientific and Technical Councils, the speech of each project leader was heard, and the conclusions of the experts were discussed. As a result of discussions, 32 scientific and technical projects were recommended for financing, 22 scientific and technical projects were rejected.
Earlier it was reported that an agreement was reached in July last year to finance a total of 20 projects within the framework of the joint committee in the field of science and technology between Uzbekistan and China. In this regard, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China sent an official letter to the Ministry of Innovative Development on the implementation of Uzbek-Chinese cooperation for 2021-2023. The Chinese side provided an approved list with a funding decision for 20 projects with the highest scores.
The list includes the development of electronic rules for regulating the flow in the Amu Darya basin, new portable renewable energy sources, an anticancer therapeutic vaccine, the discovery of antibacterial and antitumor components, compounds for the treatment of senile dementia, and other research in the field of medicine, pharmaceuticals, industrial production, and energy supply.
